Our story

BlackCakes.ca was born out of a deep love for the rich, cultural heritage of Caribbean and a desire to share its authentic flavors with the world. Our journey began with a simple mission – to bring the traditional Caribbean Black Cake to Canada. What started as a small endeavor soon grew into a thriving online bakery, thanks to the overwhelming love and support from our customers.
Our traditional Caribbean rum cake also known as black cake is a rich, moist, dense and decadent Island treat. Cakes are made from scratch in small batches with the finest ingredients of premium dried and glazed fruits soaked in a blend of exotic Caribbean rum and port wine for months. The addition of warm island spices for maximum flavour will tantalize your taste buds. One bite feels like a vacation in your mouth. Enjoyed all year round.

Love & Premium Ingredients
Our cakes are made from scratch with premium dried and glazed fruits such as raisins, prunes, currants, cherries, pineapples, and fresh peels, all marinated in a mix of authentic Caribbean rum and wine. We enhance the Caribbean favourite with a blend of island spices, salt, baking powder, pure vanilla, almond extract, whole eggs, and butter. We take pride in saying that our cakes contain no artificial preservatives.
Ingredients: Flour, butter, brown sugar, whole eggs, premium dried fruits(raisins, prunes, currants), glazed fruit mix(cherries, lemon, orange, pineapple), Jamaican rum and wine blend, lemon juice, baking powder, mixed spice for baking(Cinnamon, allspice, ginger, clove, nutmeg), pure and artificial vanilla extracts, almond extract and rose water.

Our chef developed a strong foundation in baking techniques producing delicious rum cakes. She has developed familiarity with Caribbean flavours and an understanding of the unique spices, fruits and rums and how they interact to produce our renowned Caribbean / Jamaican Rum Cakes.
